Unpaid positions vacant

Anti-Slavery Australia is looking for dedicated, personable and bright law students to join our team as a PLT placement students.

Anti-Slavery Australia is dedicated to eliminating all forms of trafficking and slavery through research, policy development, law reform, professional practice, education and advocacy.

PLT students will work closely with solicitors and migration agents as they provide legal advice, representation and assistance to people who have experienced trafficking, slavery, forced labour and other serious forms of exploitation.

You will receive training and supervision. You will gain experience working with clients and interpreters, drafting letters and legal documents, and managing client files.  Students can expect to learn about a wide variety of areas of law ranging from immigration, citizenship, victims’ compensation, human rights, employment law, family law, and criminal law .

You will also have an opportunity to become involved in Anti-Slavery Australia’s law reform and research agenda. Prior legal research experience is preferable but not essential.

 

This is an unpaid position. You should only apply if:

 

  • You are a UTS law student;
  • You are able to work at least 2 days per week; and
  • You need a minimum of 55 days PLT experience.
