WHAT IS ANTI-SLAVERY AUSTRALIA?

Anti-Slavery Australia is a law, policy and research Centre at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).  Anti-Slavery Australia is dedicated to promoting the rights of people who have experienced human trafficking or slavery in Australia.  We do this by providing legal advice and assistance to trafficked people, and by undertaking research and advocacy on human trafficking and slavery.

What services do we provide?

Anti-Slavery Australia provides legal services to people who have been trafficked or experienced situations of slavery in Australia. We provide legal advice and representation about many legal issues associated with the experience of being trafficked and enslaved, including immigration options, eligibility for the trafficking visa framework and other visas, citizenship, and compensation. Today, Anti-Slavery Australia is assisting over 70 clients.

Supporting a human rights approach to human trafficking

Anti-Slavery Australia takes a human rights approach to human trafficking and slavery.  This approach focuses on what needs to happen to prevent trafficking, protect trafficked people, and enable trafficked people to seek an effective legal remedies, in accordance with Australia’s international obligations to trafficked and enslaved people.
